The ratio represents the dollar amount of bonds sold by underwriting syndicates over the week as a percentage of the amount of bonds that were issued that week. The placement ratio is compiled on a weekly basis at the close of business on Friday. To be included, the offering must be $1 million or more. The placement ratio gives an indication of the demand side of the market.
