Hybrid Instrument

Trading Term

A financial instrument with the properties of an equity and debt security. Hybrid Instruments can have one or more kinds of payments indexed to the value, level, or rate of an underlying asset. For example, a convertible bond has the features of a fixed-income security, but is also influenced by the market movement of the stock into which the bond is convertible.
