Instructions

Trading Term

An instruction is a saved set of information used for transaction requests in Client Portal. You can create and save the following kinds of instructions:

  • Saved Bank Information (also known as Bank Instructions) – Contains information about a bank or brokerage account that you wish to use for funding requests. You create a bank instruction when you request a funding transaction in Client Portal.
  • Position Instructions – Optional instructions that you can create and use when you create partial ACATS transfers, FOP transfers of US stocks, and partial ATON transfers. You create a position instruction when you request a position transfer in Client Portal.
  • Settlement Instructions – Instructions for recurring transfers of stocks, bonds, options, futures and futures options. You create settlement instructions in Client Portal.

This term is specific to IBKR.
