A bond whose issuer’s payment of interest and principal at maturity is considered risky by a nationally recognized statistical rating agency, as indicated by its lower bond rating (e.g., “Ba” or lower by Moody’s Investors Service, or “BB” or lower by Standard & Poor’s Corporation).
