Technical Indicators

Trading Term

A class of measurements whose value is based on price activity in a stock or asset. Technical indicators are designed to predict the future price levels or general price direction of a security by looking at past patterns. Relative Strength Index, Money Flow Index, and Stochastics are examples of common technical indicators. Also referred to as “technicals,” technical indicators are used extensively by active traders because they analyze short-term price movements.
