Housing Permits

This is a measure of construction activity compiled by the US Census Bureau, and indicates the number of permits filed to build a private residence at some point in the future. Although new housing comprises a small percentage of the overall housing stock, the number of housing permits filed speaks volumes about the optimism among builders to meet future demand for new homes. The report breaks permits into regions and according to size and type of home to be built.
