Trading Term
  1. A security that represents ownership in a corporation and a claim on part of the corporation’s earnings and assets. There are generally two types of stock: common and preferred. Common stock provides voting rights at shareholder meetings and a share of the company’s profits through the payment of dividends. Preferred stock holders have a higher claim to earnings and assets and receive dividends before common stock holders, but usually do not have voting rights.
  2. In the Market Value – Real FX Position section of the TWS Account Window, this is the real-time mark-to-market value of stock.
