In this lesson, we’ll walk you through the pillared halls of the IBKR Campus, where our treasure trove of educational content is available through the Student Trading Lab at no cost. Our offerings include a wealth of economic and financial courses and tutorials, daily market news and analyses, engaging podcasts, live webinars, quant-related material, and more!

Study Notes:

The IBKR Campus offers a wide variety of financial education and ‘how to’ tutorials to our clients and the general public at no cost.  Here, you can learn about topics critical to trading and investing, as well as how to navigate Interactive Brokers’ trading tools – all while improving your understanding of the global financial markets, as they change daily.

Counting the Student Trading Lab, the IBKR Campus is comprised of seven pillars – each a vital resource depending on your learning objectives.

Traders’ Academy

Financial trading education designed for individual and professional investors.

As we mentioned in our previous lesson, Traders’ Academy was primarily designed for those individual and professional investors seeking a better understanding of the financial markets, asset classes, and trading tools.

At Traders’ Academy, participants can become better acquainted with IBKR’s platforms, along with tutorials on specific tools that can aid in classroom curricula, including PortfolioAnalyst and Investment Reporting, Introduction to Charts, and IBKR’s Risk Navigator.

Courses and lessons on Traders’ Academy are comprised of easily accessible and digestible short videos that are accompanied by study notes and quizzes to help reinforce the learning experience. Each Traders’ Academy course addresses a specific area, such as trading products, economics, fundamentals, or IBKR tools [See also our Advanced IBKR Tools tutorials!]. 

Let’s take a look at the TWS for Beginners course, as an example.

Here, you’ll see the course skill level, along with a breakdown of each lesson – and looking at those, you’ll find each is comprised of a short video, a set of study notes, as well as links to additional resources.  You can also ask us a question or test your knowledge by taking a quiz.

TWS for Beginners is a great resource for learning how to get started with our desktop Trader Workstation platform. Among a host of other instructional material, this course explains how to download the software to your desktop and login, how to configure the workspace and generally navigate the system, as well as shows you how to enter basic orders, create a watchlist, view charts, and much more.

Platform Tutorials

On the subject of IBKR’s platforms, Traders’ Academy also offers instructional lessons on how to use Client Portal – where we illustrate how to view your account using a web-based login, get a summary of activity, browse market-related news, and make the occasional trade. We also have courses devoted to using our IBKR Mobile and GlobalTrader platforms for both iOS and Android devices – which will help you get up and running, and trade on the go.  

And if you want to view courses by skill set – we have grouped together all Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced content for your convenience.

Whether a beginner, building expertise, or in an advanced level of study, our educational offerings can provide practical, hands-on insights and instructions that can aid in numerous use cases – from constructing a simple trading contest to creating an order to execute a basket of stocks using an API.

Explore further with other courses such asIntroduction to TWS Order Types, where you will learn about some of the more popular order types available in TWS, including limit, market and stops. Or try Introduction to Charts, where you will learn how to configure charts, view multiple charts, and learn how to add multiple studies, and even trade directly from a chart. You can also select from a wide array of investment product-related courses – from stocks to options to fixed-income, futures, forex, and more.

We also have courses that focus on economics, as well as fundamentals that explore topics such as ESG Investing, along with Fundamental and Technical Analysis

Traders’ Insight

Read and watch economic commentary and videos contributed by industry leaders providing valuable insight on the global economy, stocks, options, futures, currencies, crypto, ETFs and more. Stay on top of what’s happening in the markets.

IBKR Podcasts

Stay up to date with financial and macroeconomic events by subscribing to the IBKR Podcast channel by Interactive Brokers. Audio market commentary draws upon an array of industry experts to get unique insight on a variety of topics and asset classes. Episodes include discussions with researchers, leading financial services companies and veterans from the financial field.
